About

I was born in a corner of Alaska where nature and humanity come face to face in unforgiving confrontation. Only through a gentle dance of respect and understanding can life move forward.

So it is with most of the things that fill my life. I am a proud woman who speaks her truth – but respects the right of others to be equally outspoken. In my art my voice comes through, and I keep it authentic and true.

Rather than tell you about myself, and feel so self indulgent, I will leave the words to a friend of mine. – ILC

“Ilena embodies the term artist. On the one hand she is an explorer and fascinated by new things. Equally she values the old knowledge – the skills potters and artisans have nurtured over thousands of years.

She has had a successful career in theater, is a vocal activist for LBGTQ rights, and has generously shared her life and love, touching the lives of many who admire and respect her. She lives her art.

Equally at home in a tool belt or a ball gown, she embodies the spirit of the north. She is primal and uncompromising, and yet can be as gentle as a spring breeze through the hemlock.

Her spirituality and intuition go far beyond a passing interest. She has studied runes, and continually expands her knowledge of metaphysics. Like a child she is a voracious consumer of all that fascinates her.

She inspires, leads, and supports her many friends and colleagues, and her energy comes through in every piece she creates.”
